I figured since we had about 30 minutes to spare, I would update one more time before we head off to Kerch. We are leaving soon to go get our referral letter and then go eat dinner before we board the 8pm train.
First, let me ask all of you to pray for a couple of things. #1-Alyssa is sortof sick. She is not acting sick, but she has a very croupy (like a whoping sound) cough, if that makes since. She is losing her voice too. This happened to her 2 years ago and we had to go to the emergency room to give her oxygen because her airways closed up. She does not have asthma though, they called it "the Croup". If ANYONE has any "home remedies" to make this go away, PLEASE SHARE!!! Luckily I stuck some liquid Albuterol in the luggage before we left "just incase" but there is not much, we will use it until it is gone. I have heard of a really hot steamy shower to steam up the bathroom, and it'll help to open the airaways, but that is just not possible here. Please pray that it doesn't get any worse, and she gets better soon. #2-Please pray that we will have no problems getting the referral letter and we get there in time to see the children tomorrow afternoon.
As far as what we did today, not much really. We packed and then went to eat lunch at a cafeteria called 2 geese (or something like that). It was really stressfull. I won't go into detail, but Chris got nothing that he pointed at on his plate. The food was pretty good. Alyssa wouldn't eat, probably because she is sick. Well, she had no problem eating chocolate when we got back to the room :) And guess what?? I have food pictures today!!!!
After lunch we went to the park. Alyssa caught butterflies and chased peigons for about 2 hours. We pretty much just relaxed on our last day together with just the 3 of us :) It was such a pretty day to sit outside. The leaves are starting to fall now. It is VERY beautiful!!!
OK, I better go now. I have attatched a few pics of Alyssa at the park. And Tiff, I got Alyssa to take a picture of us and I attatched it above. She did pretty good! Happy now?? :) The first picture is of her sleeping lastnight, I just love it when she throws her arms up over her head while she is asleep, it is so cute. And yes, she sucks on a blanket at night, very hard habit to break! She started it in the orphanage for security. Chris wanted to attatch a picture of how they water the flowers at the park. It is kindof funny how they do it, just drive around in truck with a water hose out the window :) And of course, my famous food pictures :)
We will update more hopefully tomorrow after we see the kids. We are VERY excited!!!!!
Love,
Chris, Julie and Alyssa

That pic of Alyssa smelling the flowers is the sweetest thing. I hate to hear that Alyssa is sick. I am not sure of any home remedies besides the steam.....Sorry!! I will send some prayer your way. I have to say the food looked pretty yuck today! :) I am sure that Kyle will get a laugh out of the watering flowers. I hope that you guys have a safe train ride and that you arrive in time to see the kiddos cannot wait to hear the update and to see some pics of the cuties especially of some with Alyssa!! Give Alyssa our love! We miss you guys!

Ps... Kylee wanted me to tell you that she is star student at school this week and she gets to bring Franklin home with her for the weekend, and he has to do everything with her. (Franklin is a stuffed turtle, I am sure you have seen the cartoon.) She is sooooo excited ,that is the topic at our house today!

Good luck on the train ride tonight, you are just getting ready to leave as I type this. I hope Alyssa is feeling better, poor child. Good luck with the referral tomorrow, I will do a special prayer for you tonight. Oh my goodness I am getting all choked up, you are going to make me cry at work.
p.s. I am soooo glad you vetoed the Mountain Dew!!
For asthma relief, try regular tea like Lipton. We call it black tea, Chinese call it red tea- who knows what the Ukrainians will call it. Just not an herbal tea.
My mom taught me this- she had really bad asthma and used this frequently to ward off her throat closing. I think you can add sugar, but not milk. I'm actually not sure about the milk.
If your daughter won't drink it b/c it's hot, try finding an ice cube. (Now, is that a joke in Ukraine, or do they have ice cubes now?) or let it cool down.
Happy Birthday....can you imagine a better birthday gift? :)
Hi guys! I have been reading your entries about your trip and I am glad that everything is going well. I hope you trip goes smoothly and Alyssa starts to feel better.
Love,
Brandy, Alan & Madison
Can't wait to hear about your reunion with your kids. Take lots and lots and lots of pictures - which it looks like you guys are good about. Our daughter loves to look at those pictures and recall what we said and what we did those first few days when we were reunited. It's part of her "birth" story. I pray that everyone is healthy. Enjoy your time togehter there as you adjust to your expanded family. I pray that the process progresses at lightening speed and yeah I know that's praying for a miracle - but that's what I'm asking for!!!!!! Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress.
I am dying for an update! Hope you guys had a safe trip. Give Alyssa a big birthday hug for me! It's tomorrow right? Can't wait to see pictures of the whole gang! I miss you guys!
Love,
Renee
